The Evo 7/8/9s never suffered from that issue, you put a 2006 Lancer next to an Evo 9 and even people who know literally nothing about cars could work out which one was an Evo and which wasn't. The ten was, to a lot of people, not 'special' enough. This idea was exacerbated by the much higher production numbers as well.
