I know it's a bummer, but there is absolutely no issue with manually opening or closing an auto gate. The actuator is made to be able to back-drive and not harm it.

I had the dealer look into my low power steering fluid on my 2015 Summit and they found a leak at the power steering rack and tightened the return power steering line then topped up the fluid. I never noticed any leaks on my garage floor. That was at 7800 miles.
